Full passive solar access for each dwelling was difficult to achieve; however, all but 4 dwellings have some Southern solar access, with permanent awnings and calculated roof overhangs for summer shade.  Residents who choose to help tend the community garden and orchard can avail themselves of the compost bins and rainwater harvesting cisterns.  The project was designed to meet LEED-H Gold for a Future Designation.
